Utah Window Tinting
Window tinting is one of the most practical upgrades you can make to a vehicle in Utah. It cuts heat, reduces glare, blocks UV exposure, and adds privacy – and when it is done right, it stays looking clean for years. Onsite Detail installs window tint in our Midvale shop, so the film goes on in a controlled environment rather than a driveway or parking lot.
Window tinting is not a mobile service. You bring the vehicle to our Midvale shop.
Utah Legal Tint Standards
Utah window tint law requires that the front side windows allow at least 43% visible light transmission (VLT). Rear windows and the back windshield have no VLT minimum for non-commercial vehicles. All of our installations are done to legal spec for the state of Utah – no guessing, no inspections down the road.
If you are moving from out of state or had tint installed elsewhere that does not meet Utah standards, we can assess what you have and advise on replacement options.
Ceramic Window Tint
Standard window tint rejects heat primarily by absorbing it – which works, but can shorten the life of the film and build heat within the glass itself. Ceramic tint uses nano-ceramic technology to reject heat through reflection instead. The result is better heat rejection at the same or lighter VLT, no signal interference with GPS or phone reception, and significantly longer film life.
For Utah summers and high-altitude UV exposure, ceramic tint is a meaningful upgrade – not just a premium option for its own sake.

The work itself happens at our Midvale shop at 7174 S 400 W #4. Window tinting is not a mobile service. You bring the vehicle in so we can control the install.

What is the legal window tint in Utah?

How long does window tinting take?
Most standard passenger vehicle installs take 2-3 hours at our Midvale shop. Larger vehicles like trucks, SUVs, or vans may take slightly longer. The film needs time to cure after installation – we recommend avoiding rolling the windows down for 48-72 hours after your appointment.
What is ceramic window tint?
Ceramic window tint uses nano-ceramic particles embedded in the film to reject heat through reflection rather than absorption. It provides superior heat rejection compared to standard dyed or metallic films, does not interfere with GPS, cell signals, or radio reception, and holds up longer in high-UV environments like Utah. It is available at a higher price point than standard film, but delivers noticeably better performance – especially in summer months.
