Things We Can’t Wait To Do Again

Posted April 22, 2020 by Chris Blaisdell, Onsite Detail

As just about everyone has said by now, we are living in crazy times.  Some of us are staying at home or working from home, while others are working on the front lines against the COVID-19 virus and trying to maintain some normalcy for us.  As we prepare for the long run, we at Onsite Detail want to reflect on the things we are looking forward to doing when we can roam around and be with others once more.  After all, like pandemics before, this too shall pass, and it’s fun to imagine the good things coming our way when it happens.

Going on Road Trips

While the idea of cooping up in a car or RV may not feel appealing to most of us right now, the sense of going somewhere new and seeing friends or family is definitely a must for when things go back to normal. Utah’s natural beauty is worth seeing each year; its canyons, lakes, mountains and natural arches deserve our admiration.  Even if your goal is to get out of Utah for a while, getting your vehicle ready in advance can help kindle that hope and keep the excitement alive.  You’ll be ready to go, so why delay your future trips by waiting for a car cleaning?

Taking a Flight

Planes right now have been reserved for emergencies and cargo transfer.  The borders to other countries have been closed for obvious safety reasons.  Those of us who long to go to other countries or have family in other parts of the world may feel trapped where we are, but this is also a good time to reflect on where you want to go.  Plane tickets are cheaper than they have been in a long time, and being at home may help pique ideas for future adventures.  We have a blog relating to traveling in a campervan that may help spark ideas!  If you have a plane, we can also help keep it clean and ready for the skies.

Going Back to Our Usual Hangouts

Okay, maybe work and school aren’t hangout spots, but we can’t deny we miss having places to go.  How many of us are ready for bookstores, recreation centers and museums to open up again?  Many of my coworkers who have kids have expressed that their kids miss having a class to go to and places to play with their friends.  No matter the age or place, all of us have spots we want to go to, if for no other reason than to be somewhere else and enjoying what it has to offer.  We almost can’t wait for our kids to make our cars messy with school projects again!

Getting a Haircut

Many of us have talked about wanting to get a haircut, shave, hair color, pedicure, etc. when everything is open again.  Barbers, stylists, and others who focus on self-care have been amongst the most hit when it comes to businesses being shut down.  We have had the privilege of taking care of their vehicles in the past, and we cannot wait to not only clean their cars again, but request appointments of our own!

Going Out to Eat

Many people are using their vehicles to make deliveries to us as we attempt to stay home.  Even trapped at home we may find that making meals can be a bit of a chore, especially as we deal with the stress of the pandemic.  We are pretty sure we’re not the only ones who look forward to the day when we can go out to eat at our favorite restaurants again.  Sitting down together trying something new or having something familiar is something we now can see as a luxury and appreciate with greater depth.

Seeing Our Loved Ones

This one ultimately goes without saying, but it is worth saying.  Utah is known for its large families, and suddenly not being able to see each other is difficult for most of us, sometimes even painful.  Grandparents having to stay safe are thankfully able to see their children and grandchildren through apps that let them see their loved ones, but we cannot wait for the day we can hug every member of our family again.  I know I will give my grandparents lots of hugs when I can!

Seeing Our Customers

Our business has a history of being fairly customer-interactive.  We may not be detailing the vehicle with you, but we enjoy showing you the finished job and learning a bit about our customers as we do our work.  The need to maintain distance is new for us, and while we gladly do Contact-Free work and have closed our shop for most services and customer waiting, we are ready for the day we can approach without a mask and show a smile instead.  We sincerely hope that you are all doing well, and if we can aid you in doing details on your vehicles, we are glad to do so.  The pandemic is stressful enough, so let us take care of the details during this crazy time.
